Change

Malachi 3:6: "I am the LORD, and I do not change…”

One word comes to mind these days… Change.  It is a word that’s constantly on the move it seems.  It’s kind of fascinating, to me, how this word can bring forth so much emotion from us.  We are happy where we are and how things are going so we say “no” to change.  We are scared to death of what change is coming and we live in a state of fear.  We are torn apart by change and our hearts are sad and it feels like there is no “normal” anymore.  Yet, sometimes, change comes and we are excited as it is all new and good, and we smile thru the changes.  Change happens whether we like it or not.  Some changes we bring upon our selves or those we love. Some changes life just throws at us, like a curvy road on a long journey, and we are forced to try to keep from running off the shoulder.

Picture this with me:  You are driving on a beautiful, back country road.  The trees are framing the road like a picture perfect painting.  The sun is shining through the trees and you have never seen anything more beautiful.  You feel the breeze from your window, the heat from the sun and breathe in deep as you thank God for this beautiful earth we live on.  Then, suddenly, you slam on your brakes as you have come upon a sharp turn.  It causes your car to react in all sorts of ways and you struggle to just keep it on the road.  Your mind starts trying to process what to do at this sudden change, your muscles tighten, you suddenly forget all about the scenery and you shift focus to try to adapt to this change in the road that caught you off guard.

Life is a lot like this.  We are travelling along, in our routines, trying to stay on the road and adapt to life’s constant changes.  It seems they come one after the other, after the other, after the other and you just want a moment to pause and catch your breath.  Our days can be filled with unexpected turns, unexpected happenings and we often struggle to stay on the road.

The fact is that while we are struggling to keep ourselves on the road, the beauty before us has not changed.  Look up.  The trees are still framing the road, the sun is still shining and you still feel the breeze blowing in.  You have just hit a curve, a bump in the road that has slowed you down and caused you some disorientation.

Life is comparable.  Amongst all the curves and corners and processing, the journey is still beautiful.  Look up.  God is framing your life with beauty beyond the current change.  We may never understand the changes or why they come, but we can know that God will make a beautiful masterpiece out of the changes.  If only we pause, and breathe in the beauty that is God.  God created everything and that includes you.  Beautiful you.

You are loved by God and He is with you in the changes.  He is with you in the precious moments of peace and also in the devastating moments of heartache.  I don’t know what you are going through but I do know that He is good and He can :

Heal broken hearts.         Celebrate Successes.      Heal failing bodies.

Comfort us.          Give us hope.        Hear our silent cries.       Love us.

Fix relationships.        Hold us.          Celebrate triumphs.         Calm our fears.

Give us peace.          Calm the storm.              Speak truth to us.

Provide for us.        Meet our needs.          Give us joy.            Forgive us.

Change can be good, even if difficult.  Change can be hard and unwanted.  I believe the key is to trust The One who is with us through every change in this life.  He has been with us since the day we were born, and will be with us until the day we die…and then for eternity, if we make that choice to follow Him.  He is constant.  He does not change.  He is a certainty everyday, every moment, and every breath.   Just pause and breathe that in…the certainty that is Christ.

This girl is thankful for this gift from a God who loves me and is unchanging.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”  -James 1:17

So, until I write again I encourage you to: Be Strong, Stand Firm and Believe in Miracles! Our God is a God of Miracles! Count Your Blessings…  Trista J
